Liverpool vs Manchester City: Premier League Weekend Odds & Predictions

Anfield hosts the game of the weekend on Sunday 11 October, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United also in action. Our UK betting preview with tips for the next two Premier League rounds.

The Premier League returns after the international break with the fixture every neutral circles first: Liverpool vs Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday 11 October, kick-off 16:30 UK time (17:30 CEST). It is the headline of a packed weekend that starts on Saturday lunchtime with Arsenal vs Leeds United at the Emirates.

International breaks scramble form. Players come back tired, some come back injured, and the managers get only two or three training sessions before the first game. That uncertainty is exactly where bettors who do their homework find value.

Liverpool vs Manchester City – the key battle

Anfield remains the hardest away trip in England for City. Liverpool's pressing and the noise from the Kop push visitors into rushed decisions, and City's build-up from the back is the exact style that pressure is designed to break.

City's counter-argument is control. When they keep the ball through the first press, they pin Liverpool deep and starve the crowd. The first twenty minutes will tell you which version of this game you are watching.

Our prediction: a high-tempo game with chances at both ends. We like Both Teams to Score as the safest angle, and a Liverpool win or draw (double chance) as the value side at home. Correct-score punters may look at 2-1 or 2-2.

The rest of Matchweek: Saturday 10 – Monday 12 October

Saturday 10 October: Arsenal vs Leeds United (12:30 UK), Aston Villa vs Brentford, Chelsea vs Bournemouth, Ipswich vs Fulham and Sunderland vs Brighton (all 15:00 UK), then Manchester United vs Tottenham at Old Trafford (17:30 UK).

Sunday 11 October: Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest and Hull City vs Everton (14:00 UK) before Liverpool vs City. Monday 12 October closes the round with Coventry City vs Newcastle United (20:00 UK).

Tip of the round: Arsenal to beat Leeds and Over 1.5 goals is a popular Saturday acca starter. Manchester United vs Tottenham is the most unpredictable game of the weekend — a natural BTTS candidate.

Looking ahead: 17–19 October

The following weekend opens with Everton vs Chelsea (Saturday 17 October, 12:30 UK) and includes Brentford vs Liverpool, Manchester City vs Ipswich and Newcastle vs Aston Villa. Sunday 18 October brings Leeds vs Manchester United at Elland Road and Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal at the City Ground.

City at home to Ipswich will be one of the shortest prices of the season, so the value is more likely in handicap or total-goals markets. Forest vs Arsenal is a classic trap game for the Gunners.
